The Airport
Pavement Structural Design System (APSDS) is a powerful, user-friendly,
Windows-based pavement design package for Airports and Heavy Industrial Pavements such as
intermodal container terminal pavements.
APR Consultants, Inc.
provides the airport pavement industry with a wide variety of tools to ensure pavement
smoothness and longer life. Through simulation software and pavement profile measuring
hardware, APR Consultants can provide the technology and expertise to assess pavement ride
quality, therefore extending pavement life, minimizing rehabilitation and reducing the
risk of damage to aircraft.
The Federal
Aviation Administration's Tech Center, Pavement Technology projects in this area focus
on several aspects of airport pavements, including the National Pavement Test Machine,
LEDFAA - the new FAA standard for designs of airport pavements intended to serve the
Boeing 777 airplane, and the Airport Pavement Database of FAA's Instrumented Runway
Project at the Denver International Airport.
Center of Excellence for
Airport Pavement Research The joint University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign/
Northwestern University Center of Excellence supported by the Federal Aviation
Administration has been set up to develop pavement design for next generation aircraft.
Description of projects in airport pavement technology, including modeling of airport
pavement structures, constitutive behavior of pavement materials, material
characterizations, and advancement in the art of pavement evaluation.
