Vicroads Code of Practice
Manual of codes of practice. RC 500.22. Selection and design of pavements and surfacings. September 2004.
This Code sets down VicRoads procedures for the selection and design of new road pavements and surfacing.
The Code includes important information on Selection of Asphalt Types and typical characteristics of asphalts commonly used by VicRoads.
You can download the Code at no charge from here.
New Zealand Supplement
The NZ Supplement includes additional guidelines for applying the Austroads design procedures resulting from research results and experienced gained in New Zealand. The aim is to minimise confusion and promote consistency in design assumptions applied in New Zealand.

Overview of Mechanistic Pavement Design
We have recently published a paper that gives an overview of mechanistic pavement design and recent developments in CIRCLY 4. For further details see Wardle and Rodway (1998).
For more background on the AUSTROADS design procedure, see the following report:
Origins of Austroads design procedures for granular pavements

Important Warning- Heavy Duty Pavements
Performance data developed for highway pavements (e.g. Austroads) is not generally appropriate for heavy loadings such as airports and container terminals. Use of such models can lead to grossly under-designed pavements. For further details see Rodway and Wardle (1998).
How to Order the Austroads Pavement Design Guide
You can purchase the 2004 Austroads Pavement Design Guide (Austroads Publication No. AP-G17/04) for Aust.$143 plus Aust. $13.20 postage (within Australia).

Pavement Design for Light Traffic -
A Supplement to Austroads Pavement Design Guide
Austroads Publication AP-T36/06 (2006).
This Supplement is intended to assist those required to plan and design new pavements for lightly trafficked situations. It caters for design traffic up to 105 ESA for flexible pavements and 106 Heavy Vehicle Axle Groups for rigid pavements. It is a supplement to the Austroads publication Pavement Design – A Guide to the Structural Design of Road Pavements (Austroads 2004) – throughout this document this publication is referred to as the Guide. This Supplement together with the Guide supersedes Austroads publication A Guide to the Design of New Pavements for Light Traffic (APRG 1998).
